writer / illustrator / tattoo artist

Dave Davenport

Dave Davenport has worked as a tattoo artist for over 25 years and an illustrator for over 30. Along with Justin Hall, he co-created the gay erotic comics series Hard to Swallow, co-published by his own Marginalized Publications and Hall's All Thumbs Press. His original characters Feral and the Ghost Skater have become fan favorites, starring in their own books and earning Dave the Prism Comics Queer Press Grant in 2015. Their story continues, along with other projects from Dave, through Tannis Comix.

His other comics include entries for Jon Macy's Fearful Hunter and the horror anthology Theater of Terror: Revenge of the Queers from Northwest Press, as well as Alphabet from Prism Comics.

Dave's work has always been informed by his views, wanting to give attention to those more marginalized. Thus, he ran his Los Angeles shop, Marginalized Tattoo, as a safe space for everyone.

Dave was also one of the original founders of Bent-Con, the first major geek and pop-culture convention celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community.

As an illustrator, Dave also created art and posters for Street Fight Radio as well as various magazines including Unzipped, Out, and Instigator.
